Elis studied, apprenticed and practiced acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Hong Kong before immigrating to Canada in 1992. After establishing his profession in Toronto, Elis played a pivotal role in the regulation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Ontario. Since the early 2000s, he has served as a spokesperson and advisor thanks to the support and recommendations of his distinguished clientele.
He firmly believed that acupuncturists and TCM practitioners should be recognized as health professionals, advocating the public's protection from needling accidents. With his righteous and courageous personality, Elis spearheaded efforts to ensure that Registered Acupuncturists and Registered TCMPs would be licensed to perform acupuncture safely. He considers this achievement a philanthropical contribution to Canada.
Elis has passed down the skills and knowledge to his daughter, Jessica, and is enjoying his retirement since 2025.
